Adoptions in Cambodia and Vietnam
Recently on 20/20, many people saw the horrifying situation of families trapped in Cambodia as a result of their child's visa being denied by INS . Currently there are several families who have received notices of intent to deny visas from INS for their children in Vietnam. In order to help these families and all future adoptions in these countries please contact your Senators and US Representatives. Listed below are several points which can be made in your letters:
Request that the families caught having already finalized the adoption overseas and who are now unable to obtain visas for their children, be able to bring them home without further delay.
Express concern about how and when INS investigates the case. Currently the investigation takes place AFTER the parents have finalized the adoption overseas. Request that the process be changed so that the children and parents are not the ones penalized if problems are found in the investigation.
