China
is located in eastern Asia and is the largest country in the world by
population and the third largest in area. The country borders the Pacific
Ocean and its climate and geography are among the most diverse in the
world. The majority of people live in the eastern third of the country
where the major cities and most suitable farm land is located. One out of
every four people on the planet call China home.
Today more than a billion people in China share a unique history with having the oldest continuous civilization in the world. Their culture has existed for 5,000 years and has produced great achievements in art, philosophy, science and technology. Building on their triumphs from the past, the nation of China is graciously struggling to enter the modern world.
