March 16, 2006 Update - On Monday, March 13, 2006 at 2:30, our Vietnamese facilitator filed our accreditation paperwork with the government office in Hanoi. This marks our 45 day waiting period to receive our agency accreditation approval. Also, just last week, we received notice that the International Red Cross Representatives in the Hau Giang Province approved the opening of our baby home. We will continue to update this site with current news on the opening of this program.

August 2005 Update - We are excited to announce that Vietnam and the United States have reached an agreement to reopen adoptions!

In August 2005, WORLDWIDE sent a representative to Vietnam to establish relationships and gain a better understanding of how this program will work. We are in the process of gaining agency accreditation so that we can proceed with adoptions. Once we receive accreditation, which may take 2-4 months, we will be ready to begin the adoption processing. For anyone interested in this program, we are accepting preliminary applications for you to start paperwork in the anticipation of the program's official opening. As we learn more about the process, we will share information with you. Please call our office to learn more!

Vietnam is a tropical nation located along the eastern coast of mainland Southeast Asia. It is a long and narrow country with a coastline that stretches for 2,140 miles along the South China Sea. Much of the country is rugged and densely forested, with a chain of mountains forming its northern and western borders. The nation has had a turbulent history in its struggle to maintain and regain its independence from conquering powers.
Most Vietnamese live in over crowded cities or in the densely populated delta areas and along the coastal plain. The majority of the people are farmers and rice is the chief crop.
The agricultural staple provides the basic food for the Vietnamese people.

The beautiful people of Vietnam are Asian in appearance. The nation is a homogenous society with the ethnic Vietnamese making up 90% of the total population.
